VERTICAL TUTORING PHILOSOPHY AND PRACTICE
The vertical tutor system is a well-established and fundamental feature of the school community. It was introduced with the overaching aims of strengthening relationships that contribute to the emotional and cognitive development of the young people. Tutors and co-tutors are the key adults for a young person all the way throughout their time at Belvue School responsible for monitoring and supporting them in all aspects of their development. They not only build trusting relationships with the young people but also develop close and meaningful relationships with parents/carers to provide the best outcomes for possible for each individual. Each tutor group is made up of students from across years 7 through to 13 and promotes a more cohesive, tolerant and nurturing community. Tutor groups gather each morning and afternoon with an extended tutor time once a week.
